Our Man In the Field – The Road (single)

by | Feb 10, 2024 | single review | 0 comments

I’ve banged on about Our Man In The Field here, and at Fatea and Americana UK since his first album in 2020. One of my favourite live acts and I’ve neem waiting for this single to appear since he played it at Malmesbury last autumn.

The quality of Alex Elli’s songwriting just keeps getting better, and this is one of his best. The pedal Steel glides across the top of an insistent drum beat. As good as anything on the album.

I was delighted when Mark Beaumont-Thomas loved ‘Gold On the Horizon’, to the extent that’s he’s off to OMITF’s live date in Sheffield on the 11th Feb.

I’ll hopefully be seeing him at the Bath Songwriters Festival on March 16th. The placing on the poster brings up the tantalising prospect of two of my favourite songwriters and two fo the nicest people in music playing together.

If you haven’t booked just look at the line-up below and do so…
