Bath Songwriters Festival preview

by | Mar 15, 2024 | Uncategorised | 0 comments

Saturday 16th March (tomorrow) sees the rather wonderful Assemby Rooms in Bath play hosts to as fine a collection of folk and Americana artists as you could hope for. Matt Owens has brought back one of the best bits of his 2022 Americana Fest the songwriters circle and made a day of it. There are some interesting combinations, including 2 of my favourite songwriters, Matt himself and Alex Ellis, Our Man In The Field, on stage together.

The timings for the day are at the bottom of the page, and here are just a few previews of the artists. There’s also Elles Bailey, Robert Vincent, and some artists I’ll be hearing for the first time, which is the point of a festival. If you miss it, you will regret it…

Izzie Yardley – I reviewed her E.P. Imposter for Fatea last May.

Louis Brennan is new to me, but looking forward to hearing more from him on the day

Our Man In The Field should need no introduction if you’ve been reading anything from me…

Nor should Matt Owens

Michele Stodart is one of the hardest working people in music, supporting others and producing some excellent music of her own

Hannah White’s Sweet Revolutionw as one of my favourite albums last year…

And there you have it. Tickets are still available here. I’ll see you there.

We’ve got five years, what a surprise!

No I'm not going to start singing Bowie, but it is 5 years since I started my CD store on Discogs. I’ve sold nearly 19,500 discs in that time, and I thought it would be interesting to work out who the most popular artists have been over the 5 years. This is of course...
